{"id":2786,"date":"2022-08-02T19:43:42","date_gmt":"2022-08-02T17:43:42","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/raintreecoaching.com\/?p=2786"},"modified":"2022-08-02T19:43:43","modified_gmt":"2022-08-02T17:43:43","slug":"positive-in-a-negative-world","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/raintreecoaching.com\/index.php\/2022\/08\/02\/positive-in-a-negative-world\/","title":{"rendered":"Positive in a Negative World"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\" style=\"font-size:18px\">The environment that our staff and ourselves are living in seems to be spiralling into greater and greater negativity.&nbsp; Fuel increases, wars, inflation, price increases, load shedding etc etc.&nbsp; The flood of negative news feels suffocating, overwhelming, hopeless and depressing.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\" style=\"font-size:18px\">The importance of leading positively in this complicated environment is critical to maintain productivity and deliver results.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\" style=\"font-size:18px\"><strong>How do you stay positive and lead impactfully in the negative environment?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\" style=\"font-size:18px\">Let\u2019s explore the importance of authentic positivity.&nbsp; A key risk is to <strong>fake being positive<\/strong>.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; \u201cFakeness\u201d immediately <strong>impacts staff trust and safety<\/strong>.&nbsp; Staff don\u2019t need <strong>superficial positivity<\/strong>.&nbsp; They need a \u201creal, I acknowledge that you are going through a tough time, and we are going to find a solution together\u201d positivity.&nbsp; We call this <strong>authentic positivity<\/strong>.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\" style=\"font-size:18px\"><strong>How can leaders\u2019 step into authentic positivity that teams trust and can depend on?&nbsp;<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\" type=\"1\" style=\"font-size:18px\"><li>Recognise <strong>what is outside of your control<\/strong>.&nbsp; Is it within your control to change fuel increases, wars, inflation, price increases, load shedding?&nbsp; Unless you are a major world leader, it is not<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\" type=\"1\" style=\"font-size:18px\"><li><strong>Accept that you don\u2019t have control<\/strong>.&nbsp; Immediately you accept what is outside of your control, the body begins to recover from the stress caused by negativity and returns to a neutral state where problem solving happens.&nbsp;<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\" type=\"1\" style=\"font-size:18px\"><li>Now, <strong>identify what you do have control over<\/strong> related to the negative events. This step supports you to connect with your personal power and develop plans that are positive and constructive.&nbsp; Examples could be, amending your budget or finding cost saving opportunities.&nbsp;<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\" type=\"1\" style=\"font-size:18px\"><li>Now <strong>implement your plans<\/strong> to take back as much control as possible in areas where you authentically have control.&nbsp; Intentionally choose to focus on what can be positively actioned and celebrate the steps you take.&nbsp;<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\" type=\"1\" style=\"font-size:18px\"><li>When you are authentically positive, <strong>implement these steps with your team<\/strong> to support them to be positive. &nbsp;Create opportunities for them to collaborate and solve their problems creatively.&nbsp; Through working together, they access innovation and creativity in ways that leaders could not have considered.&nbsp; Would you have thought of car pooling or setting up a stokvel?&nbsp;<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\" style=\"font-size:18px\">When we choose to <strong>focus on what we have control over, our positivity and solution finding improves<\/strong>.&nbsp; A team that is positive and innovative is more productive.&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The environment that our staff and ourselves are living in seems to be spiraling into greater and greater negativity.
